a big spider in my house makes me a murderess

Pre-baby I {probably} would have tried sweeping this monster out the front door so it could go live it's spider life in the great outdoors where ALL spiders belong.

But now, no. No, no, no. This spider's very existence is a threat to the safey of my baby and it had to die.

I honestly don't like killing things, and not just because creepy, crawly things give me the shivers, but because somehow my mom engrained in me the whole: Inasmuch as ye do it to the least of these... and I tend to feel guilty for taking a life. Yes, even a spider life.

Actually, I did kill without guilt once. A scorpion. The size of my hand. No exaggeration. I think I didn't feel guilty killing him because it was completely in self defense. In case you wondered, they do not care that you are bigger than them. They're going to fight.

Anyhow.

The spider, who probably innocently wandered in through the front door, was sent to his Maker today. Cleaning spray and a brown shoe were no match for his speed nor strength. He was wrapped in a paper towel and buried in the trash. Any surviving relatives are advised to stay far, far, far, away.

How are you with spiders?

UPDATE: The Babe tried to pick up a black widow in our doorway today. EEeekk!! Today's top priority: Hiring an exterminator!!

I kill them everytime, no matter what. I hate them. My cousin got bit 2 weeks ago from an unknown spider and was in the hosp for a week. No thanks!

I am like a silly, scared child. They creep me out big time. I'm so glad I have boys old enough to take care of spider removal for me now. They all get killed. Immediately and without remorse. But only if they're inside my house. If they're outside I leave them alone so they can eat mosquitoes.

Looks like a brown recluse. Hope it doesn't have any more relatives. The pirate would have tried to pick it up and put it in his mouth. You did the right thing.

Spiders in our house must die! Though I don't like them to suffer.

Any and all spiders in my house will die...I have had some nasty reactions to spider bites when I was younger. The hubs sprays the house twice a year so I don't usually see that many...spiders (well and flys) will be one thing that make me miss my cats since they ate them for me :)

Oh, I hate spiders. I'm terrified of them. In order to avoid contact, once I trapped one under a glass once so that the hubby could "take care of it" and the little bugger disappeared (it was on carpet). Since then, no more messing around. I squish them with the longest stick I can find. Yeck!

I kill 'em, if they're in my house. If they're in their house, then I'll let them be. Unless it's poinsonous then it's dead. so I guess, really, all spiders die (except daddy long legs, because it's the only kind I can accurately identify). So yeah, I kill them.
I killed a cockroach once the size of a soap box back at college. Groooooss!
