the responsible side of me is cringing.

I have so much to do this week, and by so much I mean more than I think I can possible get done. I've got all the usual things that fill my days plus a final next week that I am not ready for! I need to hit the books extra hard this week!!

Then, I'm also having a party on Saturday. A book exchange party and it should be a lot of fun!! I'm really excited for it, but I am not ready at all. I invited 20 people and told them I'd feed them dinner (!?What was I thinking!?) The last time I had a party I invited 10 people and only one person came, so I invited a lot hoping a handful could make it and so far I think everyone can make it & I'm really excited but also a little nervous because my house is on the small-ish side. And there are decorations and stuff I want to get made and up and I'm not sure when I'm going to get to that because really the Pirate and school come first.

Tell me if you think my ideas are going to work out okay:

When people come in I'm planning on hanging a paper with the name of a character around their neck, and then giving everyone a form where they have to write the title of the book associated with that character. So, Anne Shirley would go with Anne of Green Gables, and so on... then the person who got the most correct wins a prize. What do you think? Sounds kind of like a fun icebreaker people have to approach each other kind of game?

Then I saw this little girl (5 year old) who had a library themed birthday party and her mom bought all these cheap sunglasses and popped the lenses out for all her little friends so they're all wearing glasses at the party -and I thought that might be fun too. Only I can't decide if other full grown women will think I'm just plain nuts if I invite them to wear fake glasses during my party. (I mean I know I'm on the immature side but does that cross lines? Or would it just be silly good fun?) Thoughts?? And really be honest here please?

And then after dinner we're going to play the white elephant Christmas gift exchange game with the books that everyone brings, and I think that should be a pretty good time, yes? I love that game!

Anyway, and completely unrelated to this post:

I think it's funny when on Pinterest the same person pins 37 things to their "Desserts" board immediately followed by 45 pins to their "Get Skinny" board.

I also get nervous when local numbers I don't recognize are trying very hard to get a hold of me on Sunday mornings.

And the other day Hubby left a jar of peanut butter within the reach of the L. Pirate who apparently has a great fondness for peanut butter. He was sitting with it like Winnie the Pooh and a honey jar -peanut butter to his elbows and all kinds of finger holes towards the bottom of the jar. Niiiiiccee. Glad daddy had to clean that one up!

And speaking of Winnie the Pooh -he's L. Pirates new favorite. He's especially fond of "Gigger!" and I'd like to say may "Melmo" rest long and in peace.

Now that I've brain dumped -I'm back to my to do list.

Peace people! And Happy Week.

I say do the book title idea... Unless you are willing to spend $20 on 20 sunglasses from the dollar store, that you know people will dispose of when the party is finished. I say save the money toward something else for the party. That is what I try to do when I host a bash, "Is this purchase going to work for more than one event, or is this something that I know people will keep?" It helps me keep perspective on what I really want to spend money on.

Have fun at the party, I hope that many show up.

P.S. That is why I don't have a get skinny board, just lots of yummy food:)

The party sounds like fun. I wouldn't do the glasses thing, only because I wouldn't want to spend the money on glasses that people will throw away.

On the topic of food - just do something super simple. A few different salads, dressings, bread and fruit. It's simple, yummy, healthy and still in line with your lifestyle. Don't try too much (coming from an over the top person), or you won't have any fun. Good luck. Take a breath and don't forget it's ok to sit down for a minute. :)

I agree. Do the characters game, but not the glasses. It'll be expensive, and if I was there, I'd probably feel goofy wearing them. I'm a party pooper like that. :-)

Yes, local numbers on Sunday morning usually means, "The Bishop would like to talk to you." ;)

The party sounds like fun. I think the glasses would be fun, but they are expensive. Better to spend that money on food, like deserts!! Hope it's a fun day for you. Love that the pirate was elbow deep in peanut butter. He's so precious..
