scary things i get to do this week:

The obligatory Halloween pumpkin picture.
1. Last night I made, from very scratch, a stock/ broth substance using bones and meat from the deer Hubby brought home from his hunt. Today I get to chill it, scrape the fat and matter that rises to the top, fish out the meat and bones, and strain it. Yuck.

2. In order to make room in my fridge for the above, I have to clean out the contents that are lurking in the back: Namely the "stew" I made when we first got home from AL. Pretty sure its growing things by now. Yuck.

3. {And this is the most frightening of all} I *get* to fly to Arizona this week. Not scary until you factor in the fact that The Little Pirate is coming with me & Hubby is not. Getting this child to sit through the first half of sacrament meeting on a lap is near impossible -I have no idea how a 2-ish hour plane ride is going to go. My best guess: Scary.

P.S. To my fellow travelers: I am so, so sorry.

P.P.S. Every time I think about this I get physically ill. What was I THINKING when I committed to this!? Clearly, I was not thinking at all.

P.P.P.S. My cousin recently flew alone with her baby and toddler AND preschooler on a 4-ish hour flight. She is one brave woman. Or crazy. One or the other. Maybe both.

P.P.P.P.S. In this last year(ish) I have given birth naturally and dealt with a deployment and two three-day long road trips with this Babe O' Mine, why is this flight so freakin' me out!?

P.P.P.P.P.S. Happy Halloween y'all!

Firstly, I like the new look you have going on here.

Second, the flight will be fine. I promise. I've flown by myself with all the kids a few times, and it's just fine. They always do better than you think. You can call me for some tips if you want.

Flying with kids by yourself is not fun! But, you'll survive and it likely won't be as awful as you are envisioning. The hardest part for me is managing all the luggage and the child up to the gate and getting through security. Hope you have a stroller you plan to gate check. Then, just bring some new toys and new snacks, maybe a DVD player, and that along with exploring the plane will hopefully entertain him enough! And it always helps when you can sit by nice people. :)

Drop me a line when you're in AZ!!

Best of luck on the traveling plans. All I can say is pray.

I've flown with 5 kids overseas to London by myself before. Well-fed and ready for bed, they slept the whole way there from Phoenix--it was a 10 hour flight, I think. They woke up 20 minutes before we landed. Of course, I had snacks n' lap toys just in case. Don't stress out! It's just a short flight and I bet he'll be fine! I flew with my 22 month old grandson from Houston to Denver and he too, slept the whole way. Hmmm maybe I just bore my kids to death? lol

You will be fine. I suggest you either sit in the very front of the plane or the very back and the flight attendents will be there to help you. Get him a new DVD as suggested above and anything else that will be a challenge to him. Are you going SW or Alliegent? Definitly take stroller and then check at the gate. Pack light, everyone has a washer and dryer! Remember a spare pacifer! In your bra if you have too!!! Good luck! Can't wait to see you guys. And remember he is so dang cute who could be upset with him. And he will flirt with all the ladies anyway and melt their hearts!!
