these years are stacking up like pancakes

They pile up on each other so easily, so quickly and their sweet stickiness is gone all too quickly.

This year brought a lot of things. Most significantly: We finally, finally got a pregnancy! And the Pirate is officially potty-trained! Three cheers and a happy dance for that!! We also moved across the country, and bought a house. I self-published a novella that has done better than I imagined. I completed my certificate program through The American College of Healthcare Sciences, created and ran a health challenge, and gave a 30 minute presentation on Why Diet Matters. I also crossed off my bucket list item of participating in a racing event. We also had the opportunity to spend a lot of quality time with our families this year, which was so wonderful!

Those were the biggest things, but the in-between times are when life seems the richest. The little daily things we often do, like dancing together, making popcorn, snuggling in the chair first thing in the morning. There is magic in the little moments, and I've gotten good at recognizing that. Feelings of intense gratitude often overwhelm me.

I know my life is good. Really, really good. I used to feel semi-guilty for how good I have it, but these days I just appreciate it. I try to live in the now and embrace it. I have my share of trials, please don't think my life is all peaches and cream. It's not. But after years of deliberate intention I find it easy to get so caught up in seeing and enjoying all the good things that the hard things seem so much less, so much easier to bear.

I'm still mulling over thoughts about resolutions and the things I hope to do in this coming year. Hopefully I'll find a moment or two tonight to really think about it.

Tonight: Reflection.

Congrats on your pregnancy and the pirate being potty trained! Sounds like you have accomplished a lot this year. May next year bring all you hope for and more!

It's been a great year for both of us! :)

This list is AWESOME. I think I'm gonna do it this year. It's a generic one that lets you choose the actual resolutions. I love it.
