i haven't seen the sunshine since i don't know when

Truly.

When they told me this place was "significantly" colder around here they weren't exaggerating. Not even a little. It is bitterly cold here. During that vortex thing my friend's son got frostbite within 10 minutes. Ten minutes. I didn't even think that was possible.

When they told me we could go weeks without seeing the sun, they weren't exaggerating that either. Though every once in awhile it does peek out for a few minutes. That's when Pirate will say, "Mom! Mom!! The sun came out!" Then he and I pull up chairs and sit like cats in a window. When the sunshine is gone he'll hang his head and lament, "You miss the sunshine." Which is so true, and I had no idea I was voicing this until he started periodically saying it to me.

I was starting to get a bit bluesy. Depressed even. So I bought a happy light, and I'm going to say: I love it. I'm only on day three of use, but I'm already noticing a difference in daytime energy. Money well spent! Time well spent!

And, in other random thoughts...

This Johnny Cash song is making me think of another Johnny Cash song about burning rings of fire.

Because that ring of fire is coming. Oh it is coming. And nothing is ready. (Minus two freezer meals.) (Yay!)

Yikes!! I can't even imagine! It's colder here, but definitely not THAT cold. I'm grateful for smart people who can figure stuff out like making happy lights!
